Shelton Lee

I read the biography Delinquent Angel and was introduced to an Australian Poet I had never heard of before and fell in love with the man, the story and all its rough edges. He is a man that has now passed away but will not be forgotten by his followers......his adoption and colourful life introduced us to such passion and poetry that flowed from his tongue. I can relate to alot of his story, had a lot of the same struggles and feelings of an adopted child feeling out of place. I must say I was not as self destructive and only saw inside a prison wall once........Shelton lived and breathed such destruction on his soul and body which is heart breaking but that was the man he was.

Here is a painting - the most beautifu portait painting I have seen in a while painted by Jenni Mitchell and is on the cover of Sheltons book The Love Poems! I would love to go and see Jenni's work!

Quotation

Every day one should at least listen to a little song, read a good poem, look at a fine painting, and, if possible, say a few reasonable words.

(Johann Wolfgang Von Goethe (1749-1832), German poet, dramatist. Serlo, in Wilhelm Meister's Apprenticeship, bk. V, ch. 1 (1795-1796).)

The Road Not Taken

Two roads diverged in a yellow wood,
And sorry I could not travel both
And be one traveler, long I stood
And looked down one as far as I could
To where it bent in the undergrowth;
Then took the other, as just as fair,
And having perhaps the better claim
Because it was grassy and wanted wear,
Though as for that the passing there
Had worn them really about the same,
And both that morning equally lay
In leaves no step had trodden black.
Oh, I marked the first for another day!
Yet knowing how way leads on to way
I doubted if I should ever come back.
I shall be telling this with a sigh
Somewhere ages and ages hence:
Two roads diverged in a wood, and I,
I took the one less traveled by,
And that has made all the difference.
